During the stay, he gave us the seminar below.

Title: How can plants stay in this world while their pathogens can evolve much faster?

Abstract: Many plant pathogens are microbial and can evolve much faster than plants. How can plants stay in this race of evolution against pathogens with lopsided disadvantage? An answer is that plants hide and change the goal of the race instead of fairly competing in the race. I will discuss two of the mechanisms with which plants hide and change the goal: resilience of the immune signaling network and coevolution of homologous immune regulators.

The  seminar was very interesting!

He also had an interview with PhD students and postdoc members in our lab. That would be so helpful.

Thank you very much!

Everyone did a great job!!

Dr. Motoki Shimizu (IBRC) gave us the seminar!

Dr. Motoki Shimizu (IBRC)  gave us the seminar!

He talked the story of his recent publication (Shimizu et al., PNAS 2022 doi: 10.1073/pnas.2116896119) and more.  That was very interesting!

Motoki, thank you so much!
